LS7 vs. LS376/525
stock ls3 430
204/211. .551/.525 117 LSA
525HP.
226/236. .525/.525. 110 LSA
DOES THE DURATION AND LSA REALLY ADD THAT MUCH.....DIFFERENCES SEEM SO MINIMAL
WHERE THE HECK IS 95HP COMING FROM??
As a comparison I gained about 50whp from my LS7 when going for a much bigger cam:
LS7 stock 211/230 .591/.591 LSA 121 overlap -21.5
GMPP stg 3 233/276 .630/.630 LSA 107 overlap +40.5
Not sure exactly what that would convert into in engine gains with a 5-speed manual transmission but I would be surprised if it's even close to the 95 claimed hp from the LS376/525 over the standard LS3.
Also it's a bitch to drive with that huge overlap, it does not like to be below 2k rpms at all
But that cam needs to go regardless with the new MX-5 project, I'll just swap back the stock cam first and then maybe later on I'll look for something a lot more street friendly down the road.As a general update I ordered the LS376/480 and I'm currently waiting for a boat to pick it up in Houston and ship it to me in Sweden
As I'm not keeping the AC Cobra I couldn't justify the premium of the LS376/525 over the LS376/480. The later will also drive and behave better and still be plenty powerful enough for a 2200lbs kit car. And just a little bit more expensive compared to the standard LS3.
