I hate digging up a 9 month old thread, but can anyone provide a measurement from the firewall to cylinder head using the Hooker mounts?

I started my swap about 10 years ago. Bought a house, got married, and the project got back burnered.

I’m using one of the other guys mounts and don’t love how they fit. It may because I’ve got a Blazer, but the engine seems too high and too far forward. The front of the H3 oil pan sump is resting on the crossmember, causing a poor pinion angle.

Any help would be great. These are two beautiful 1st Gen swaps. Hopefully I’ll have mine up on here soon too.

What Headers are you using? It saves a lot of head scratching if you use Headers and their Intended Mounts.
Ive never owned a Blazer Frame, but seems like I remember reading they have a raised Mount?
IF I ever do another S10 I will use the Holley Mounts and Headers.
Sorry I cannot help with the Head to Firewall Question, Im using the Current Performance Mounts which I do not Recommend.
On youtube their is a guy "Cheeky Garage" that is using the Holley stuff, you may be able to see something in one of his Videos.

I have only ls swapped one blazer. Put a couple old small blocks in them. I cut off the raise mount pads on all of them. It raised the engines too high and caused tunnel issues. I seem to remember the at least one had mount holes under the raised plates. I did drill at least one to get everything where I wanted.

I’m using Stainless Works headers with CPW mounts. I think I’ll just start my open thread so I don’t muck this one up.

Default 93 s10 4x4 blazer

I am in the process of ls swapping my blazer. I was wondering if you happen to know what I would need for the automatic trans shift linkage? I know you manual swapped yours, but I am wanting to retain the 4L60E that came in my blazer. As well as what valve covers did you use? Did you need to change the brake booster? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Anyone can respond.

I used the Lokar Universal Automatic Shift Linkage. Works great. But it requires a few bends to get it to conform to the shape of the firewall and the direction towards the 4L60E shifter shaft. And then you must carefully shorten the linkage rod to make the trans shift correctly. If you leave the rod too long - you will never get the 60E into Park. If you cut the linkage rod too short - you will be buying another rod, and the transmission won't go into the low gears.

I think I musta' made twenty-five trips under my El Camino trimming off little bits of length from the linkage rod to get it exactly right. And I will use this same setup very soon with the 4L60E under my Catalina convertible.

94 NBS was the last year for linkage in S-trucks. Maybe the later column and cable would work. (I prefer linkage, but I know these trucks are tight for exhaust.)
