Pulling a Duramax to install a built LS??
It has a full billet trans etc but has just blown a head gasket. To get this setup where I want it which would be fully built short block, larger injectors , etc I'll be dumping another 10-15k easy. Truck weighs around 7500lbs and I could sell off the aftermarket parts, trans , engine etc and bring in around 10-12k probably.
Im green on LS motors so maybe you can tell me wether to scrap this idea or run with it:
My question is can a reliable 800-1200hp turbo LQ4 or LQ9 be built to run on pump gas for roughly 10k including turbo setup , fuel etc??? Or am I way off and this a 20k build?? I don't need it over built but do want it right and not half as..
I have another truck ill be driving 90% of the time so this will be more of a weekend ride etc. Will a built engine tuned properly etc be good for 50K, 100k? I know there will be maintance along the way but kinda curious if the long block itself would be pretty trouble free if setup correctly?
Its not going to make hot laps at the strip etc . Just a horsepower junkie and like power. I don't flat tear my stuff up but I do like to string it out here and there and lay some rubber down.
I would be putting a fully built 4L80E begins it most likely which I'm figuring $$3500-6k for it.
Anyways let me know if this is a flat *** terrible idea or if it could be done around $15k including trans. Or stick with the Duramax ?
Oh my cousin owns and engine building and Machine Shop so machine work won't cost me much.

I already have close to 10k in the full billet trans so guess it's time to do the heads and build the short block.
Thanks for the quick replies so I can scratch that idea.
