'Round these wheels in 80 (?) days
The bushing type of kit is proving far superior to the needle bearing ones, due to bad metallurgy causing the needles to dig into the trunnion, which is usually too soft to handle that type of wear.
Well, small progress is still progress, right??
I'd bought this expansion tank 2 or 3 weeks ago, but it didn't come with anything that mentioned what types of threads the different ports used.
After my workout, I went to a local hardware/sporting goods/outdoor store where the employees always seem to be helpful, & sure as heck, I was routed to a guy who knew right where to find what I was looking for. Eight bucks later, & I'm now ready to mount this sucker up & connect the hoses... Bit by bit - even if they're little bits! - it's getting closer to running under it's own power again...
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Lesson learned - if it's important, BACK THAT CRAP UP!! And not just locally either...
Anyway - It's looking like I'll have another update to post this evening, if things go as i'm hoping...

As I think I mentioned in my original message, you see ALL kinds of vehicles at this show, from traditional hot rods...
...to sixties-era race cars...
...typical musclecar-era street machines...
...and even homicidal ice-cream trucks!!

For the record, I really liked this former dirt-track racing rat rod, & the owner's story of surviving cancer really grabbed my attention (Short version - if you smoke/vape, & you somehow think that you're not saving up some genuine horror for yourself, you're DELUSIONAL. You're lying to yourself).
I also had fun speaking with the owner of this crazy contraption..
From what he told me, he's running in the mid-12 second range, which is not too shabby for a distinctly NON-aerodynamic brick running at over 5,000 ft...
Finally... You also find yourself checking out all of the different cars when suddenly you're stopped dead in your tracks, gazing upon something you never even conceived of as a possibility. Perhaps like someone hot-rodding a late-70s Cordoba...
And it's not just the hood scoop - there appeared to be braided line under the hood, the car was on aftermarket rims/tires, there were aftermarket gauges installed rather nicely in the dash, etc.
All in all, it was a pretty decent day, even if it was hotter than heck...
