Default LQ4 or LQ9

Hello everyone,
I'm still waiting for my first post to show up but in the meantime. I'm trying to decide an engine for my 72 Nova and wanted to see what the difference is between the 2 other than power and compression ratio. Found this post LSx Engine Identification and at the bottom of the starting post it states this:

Custom Cubes:
If you are fortunate enough to get your hands on an LQ4 6.0L engine block, you can bore it .030-over and purchase a 4.250 Lunati stroker crankshaft to produce a 434ci. GenIII engine.

Add a set of GM Performance Parts ZO6 cyclinder heads (PN 12560801) or have the stock LS1 heads ported and you've got yourself a serious engine.
Would that hold true for the LQ9?
Is one better than the other?
Are they both good to use with a turbo?

Appreciate any responses

Pistons/cam are the only real differences between them.

Thanks for the reply Joe
So basically minor differences which won't make a difference if the engine gets rebuilt. I'm going to run stock for now until I can get the funds to do a rebuild and beef it up for forced induction years from now

An 05+ LQ4 or any LQ9 will handle boost just fine. Use the stock engine, maybe give it a mild cam. Get the forced induction out of the way and do it now, even if you baby it for a while.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to wait since funds are limited and have quite a bit to do the car, its just a shell at this point. So trying to keep initial costs to a minimum and eventually over time get other things done

If you can weld, turbos are cheap. I have probably $1800 in my turbo setup on a stock 5.3 and its sitting somewhere around 1000 HP at the crank. It can most certainly be done cheaper.

JoeNova is right Jcasty.... a stock LQ4 with a 200.00 cam can make plenty of power forced induction

I have 2 Nova turbo build threads if you want to check them out in the forced induction section to get some ideas... built a 72 5.3 turbo and now doing a 69 6.0 turbo
