My "please help me swap" thread
This is my first LS swap so I can use all the help I can get. I'm looking for whatever help I can get with figuring out all the small parts I will need that I may have missed so I can try to keep my projected cost estimate accurate. I'll list below the plan and what I am aware I need already. You guys tell me what else I will need or any suggestions on the build in general.
B15 LSX 376
Whipple 2.9L gen 3 front feed with 10 rib independent drive
ATI LS3/L99 Camaro spacing balancer
Complete FEAD for 2010 camaro (so far I have ordered the ps pump, AC compressor, alternator, idler, tensioner, brackets and all hardware listed on the GM parts diagrams)
-----Engine Parts-----
8 coil packs and some sort of mounting provision (or new valve covers)
F body LS1 oil pan/pickup (fits with my KDS engine mounts)
GM knock sensors
GM crank positioning sensor
GM cam sensor
GM oil level sender
Oil pressure sender
Throttle body (still researching this)
MAF
IAT sensor
What else???
-----Exhaust-----
TSP 1 7/9ths primary 98-02 F body headers (fit using my KDS swap mounts)
3" exhaust/muffs (I like welding my own stainless systems up)
-----Engine Management-----
PSI conversions harness with E38 PCM
DBW pedal (still researching that)
-----Drivetrain-----
Custom driveshaft
Custom crossmember
Trans is still an issue for me. I have an LT1 4l60e Cahall built pro race trans, have personally seen them hold up to 700whp+ season after season in 4000lb cars. Also have a Vigilante converter built for my old procharged 396cid LT1. Issue is 1) having a lot of trouble figuring out how I will both use a spacer for the LT1 trans and use a flex plate to convert the 6 bolt converter to 8 bolt LSX flange. Also, I have been told I may have trouble using this trans with the E38 PCM as it's only a 13 pin trans and new LS stuff is 15 It may be time to cut and run to an 80E, I know most of you will agree LOL
-----Fuel System-----
I already have the car set up with an Aeromotive phantom 450 pump and was going to plumb some large hard lines and use an Aeromotive boost referenced FPR. I know this pump will work on pump gas if I don't get greedy on power, but it will probably fall short if I want to hit the upper limits of what I could make on pump gas. Considering other options for possible flex fuel use as well but at the very least I have what I need to get the car running.
-----Whipple Related-----
Factoring in about 1500 for either a good HX and HX pump or an HX pump, reservoir and interchiller setup
-----Other-----
wideband
other misc gauges (boost, whatever else I can't/don't want to use the factory cluster for).
What else? What's recommended as far as a steam crossover, PCV/breather setup and is there anything else I forgot?
