09 4.8 swap for 04 LS6
09 4.8 swap for 04 LS6 I have a 09 sierra with a 4.8 and its so weak I also have a LS6 block. I would like to know what it will take to convert the gen 3 block to work in my 09 truck. I have searched and can't find any info, especially swapping a gen 4 for gen 3. But I have this good block and would like to use it.

You can use the cam sensor from the present engine and swap everything over from the 4.8 to the LS6 block, except of course the rotating assembly. You will need a non-4.8 crank with the 58 tooth reluctor, plus rods and pistons for a 5.7. You are essentially building a Gen III block with Gen IV innards. A good balance job will be required.
