How do you fund your projects?
Near as I can tell, his last posts were being pretty cold about Stan Lee's passing, which alone would not do it.
But the mods likely had enough of his attitude which showed in almost all his posts.

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Edit: Found where it came from; A T-56 thread, and it was not out of context, posted on the 12th, a day before it looks like he got banned. He posted on the 13th for the last time. He was SO abusive, and never apologized for any of it. Glad it happened.

Aside from "spreading it out" time-wise,
- My wife & I each make decent (but hardly outstanding) salaries (HINT: train yer brain!!);
- We've purchased a modest home with a mortgage payment that we can afford on just one salary - which saved our asses during a period of several months when I wasn't working (live modestly/within your means);
- My wife is pretty good at finding those "0% APR for 15 months" credit card deals, so the impact of the credit-card debt that we do have is minimized (do what you can to be financially savvy);
- I do everything I can with my own two hands - but I have a buddy who works as a mechanic who's definitely helped me out (make the most of the relationships you have):
- And like I said before, I've had this car for 20 years, so I've spread the "investment" in it out over quite a while (you just can't be in a hurry).
The engine I got with some of the money I inherited when my mom passed away, the rear end I purchased with a yearly bonus that I got. The Baer brakes on the front are used, I just happened into a great deal in the classifieds.
But mostly, I've just spread it all out over several years...
Seriously - just TRUST ME on this one...
I personally do amazon because nowadays you can buy anything on amazon and I buy car parts.
Credit cards are not evil if you have self control.
- 1951 Buick Roadmaster convertible all options - Sold in Hemmings to a guy in New Zealand for my stupid high asking price
That flip bought the following car and netted me enough profit to restore and invest
- 1971 Olds 442 convertible all but the W30 options - Sold it via Hemmings in a bidding war that got me $7500 more than I was asking
The 442 sale bought my 1964 Chevy Nova SS for $6200 and allowed me to bank a ton which I ended up investing. It was 1994 when I bought the car and it was complete and mint so I just incrementally did stuff to make it my own but ended up mothballing it for a number of years while life happened. I still have that car and in that last 6 years I have slowly turned it into a 9 second ride (SBC/Nitrous) that I still use to get groceries in, actually painted it this year after 24 years.
The life period I mentioned above has been really good to me, scored huge in the .COM days with 3 stocks that helped me clear some future retirement runway and helped me get thru my Harley and Mud running fix. I also had a job in IT which I put a lot of time into and it is now paying off. I always customized my daily drivers but I now have the income to pursue my hot rod hobby that has always been there since I was 6 years old.
Current Project is a first time LSx JY Turbo swap into a 1974 C10 SWB styleside, if that works out I see twins for my '64!
When you buy with cash it's one and done - transaction 100% complete before anyone even turns to walk away. Buying with cash has an immediate sting to it that using plastic doesn't. With cash you always know how much you have left and it's easy to check. With a credit card you still have the card even though you're maxed out and don't realize it.
Anytime someone will loan you money for free, leverage that. You can charge and pay it all off every month -- and you get to keep the float on that money for 45-60 days. Thank you very much. The CC isn't evil. A lot of people just lack the discipline to learn about and manage their financial affairs. Conversely -- I work hard to not LOAN money for free. I NEVER have a tax refund at the end of the year -- doing so is loaning YOUR money to the taxing authority (state, feds) FOR FREE. Goal is always to owe as much as possible at tax time without going into penalty. That way I keep my money invested and working for me as long as possible. Again -- it's simple discipline.
8.Lug banned? Thanksgiving indeed.
As for your second statement... if you read past the first sentence in my post you will see why I feel that way. This is also why I don't suggest using them in an open forum. Among people I know, my suggestions may be different for a variety of items.
If you are the responsible sort there are lots of things you can do that will cause you and others no harm. The problem is we seem to be surrounded by irresponsible people which is the unfortunate reason we need rules in the first place. The key word here and my previous post is responsible.
I've thought about the 8.Lug thing for a few days and I can't seem to remember a single post I saw from that account that didn't feel like he was trying to push someone's buttons.

hammer dropped on you!
