Default Fuel Pressure Regulator Question

I'm installing an LS3 crate motor (first one) and working on plumbing the fuel system. The instructions list an AC Delco fuel pump recommendation and say it needs to be regulated at 58psi. From what I understand I need a Corvette fuel pressure filter/regulator that are commonly sold at Tanks, Speedway, Summit, etc. Some reviews for the fuel pressure regulators say they bought a Delco and it came out of the box with a WIX part #. Some of the Delcos listed on Ebay say it may not look like the picture and may have been repackaged...??? I'm also concerned about some of the bad reviews for early failures and leaks. Sooo 2 questions....1) who is having the best luck with which brand? and I don't mind paying a little extra for one that may last longer and 2) for a completely stock motor does it matter where I locate the fuel pressure regulator? Thanks for your help!

I recently got a WIX directly from my local Napa store and don't have any issues with it. I have also purchased the AC deco branded one from Amazon and it seems to work fine. I actually replaced the AC deco with the WIX, thinking that I was having issues, but both regulators delivered exactly the same pressure. My issue ended up being a dying fuel pressure transducer.

If you're going to use the Corvette filter regulator I suggest WIX or Delco as they are the only ones I've been able to get that seemed to be reliable for any length of time. The WIX brand seems to be less expensive.
I purchased one at Autozone that was their house brand and the box had a Wix filter in it with the logo marked out by a sharpie, but you can't rely on that.

More recently I've ditched the drama of trying to find three year only Corvette only filters and started running Aeromotive 13129 fuel pressure regulators.
I find the Aeromotive 13129 regulator to be much more reliable, adjustable, boost referenced if needed, can be located anywhere and allows you to use filters you can actually get on short notice (like GM truck filters). The only down side is the initial price and the o-ring fittings required for installation. I also use NiCopp line for all the hard line and 3/8" Gates J30R9 or the OEM style nylon tubing for the flexible connections. Coming from a guy who is always financially conscious, saving a few dollars on your fuel system when the potential loser is an engine doesn't really make a lot of sense to me.

I've used the NAPA/Wix FFR for C5 Corvettes many times. My LS1 98 Wrangler has had the same one for over 10 years. No issues. I did order the Summit kit FFR with the -6 fittings and it leaked right out of the box. No brand on it that I could tell. They replaced no questions asked. It's my spare now.

I would only use AC Delco or Wix, never had a problem with either of them and heard too many horror stories about cheap house brand filters. I've got 106k miles on the Delco one in the '33 and have often thought about replacing it for maintenance reasons, but am afraid I may replace it with something worse so I keep running it! Probably should think about carrying a spare though.... Also, doesn't matter where you put it, mine is just in front of the rear axle. Just put it somewhere it's easy to get to when the car is done and not just easy to get to on a rolling chassis, seen that done before too.

I put my Tanks, Inc. Corvette regulator very near the fuel tank on my 70 El Camino. The closer to the fuel tank, the less exposed a fuel line is to damage.
