Default Should I remove the fuel rail or leave it alone?

Hello all,

I'm routing my wiring harness (I adapted from stock 2004 Avalanche). I'd like to run the harness under the fuel rail for a cleaner look but I'm not sure if all the plugs will fit underneath so I can snake it through. I've considered removing the fuel rail so I can put the harness under there, but I've never done that before. Would I potentially be opening a can of worms? Is it best to leave a fuel rail alone if it's not currently a problem?

Thanks,

If the fuel rails have never been off maybe you need to buy O rings for the injectors before you start. To remove the fuel rails just undo the 4 bolts and lift them off. May have to pry just a bit but no big deal to remove the rails and injectors.

Pop it off and put it back back on,just make sure none of the o-rings fall off and check for leaks when you are done.

might even be a good idea to take it off and drain the old gas out if there's some still in there. if the o-rings are a little sticky i just spray some oil in there and work them around a little and they come out easier and i think are less likely to get damaged. the o-rings don't like carb cleaner though in my experience.

The o rings are 14 years old, so they have probably become hard and may not seal properly, so I would replace them if you remove the rail.

Thanks guys. I think if that's the case, since I already have 100 things going on at once, I'll wait to get the car finished and sorted out before I remove the fuel rails.
