Bellhousing alignment - powdercoat removal I'm using a QT 6036 to join a muncie to my LM7 for my Bel Air.
The parallel measurment is off .009.
Does anyone completely remove the powdercoating from the block to BH and transmission to BH surfaces? I sanded with 400 grit to make sure there were no irregularities but question the evenness of the coating.
I'm wondering if I should remeasure without any powdercoating and, if so, what the best method is to remove. Hand sanding so far is slow! TIA.

I left all powder coating in place - QT6037 for LS to T5/TKO/Toploader. All of my readings (concentricity and 'flatness' of face) were either .000" or .001" - out of the box. So I guess I got lucky and am no help at all. Following along for the education....
