Default Using stock foxbody k member

Alright guys I need help with this. To start off I have a ls swap foxbody project I’m working on. I got a 5.3 engine and a th400 trans that will be going in it. I have read posts that in order to do the swap I should get a k member and swap headers. I chose dyno tech headers and aje k member. Later on I was going to add a turbo on it. But I have a friend who had suggested to me that instead of wasting time swapping the k member just to go turbo later on, he had mentioned I keep the stock k member on the foxbody (save money) and just do the turbo setup and I wouldn’t run into an issue with the k member. The exhaust would be a front bumper exit and he mentioned using truck headers (I’m guessing flipping them) is why he is saying I wouldn’t have an issue. He did this with a friend and he said it turned out to be a pretty cheap project for what they did. Has anyone had any experience going this route? I do want to keep this a budget build and I know usually budget and build in the same sentence doesn’t work. But so far with all the trading I have done for parts, I’m out of pocket very little and would like to keep it that way lol

The problem for me when I was stock K member on my fox swap was that the engine sat way too high for my liking, but yes....truck shorty's will fit and face forward with good clearance. No A/C compressor will fit that way and your car will probably be obnoxiously loud.

dont most turbo cars dump out the front fender? That’s the way my trans am is setup and it’s not obnoxiously loud. Unless you mean running it n/a and running open header.
As far as the ac compressor I didn’t think that far ahead. Unless I were to mount the turbo a little high to clear everything. Would just have to cut the hood a little which I’m fine with. This is how I did it with my trans am as well so I wouldn’t have to worry about there being any room in the engine bay.

Aje k members are $330 through jegs. That’s all I would need? That and headers of course. But it would all work with the stock springs etc ?

There are engine mounting brackets within the Hooker Blackheart Fox Body Mustang LS swap system that were specifically designed for use with the stock 1984-95 K-member. Their combined use with the GM 4th-gen F-Body engine mounts they were designed to work with will place the crankshaft centerline at the stock 5.0L height and offset. The Holley 302-3 oil pan was developed for that application to provide clearance for the power steering rack at the front end of the pan, and to clear the form geometry of the K-member just in front of the pan sump. If you want to run A//C in in your car in a turbo application, you can high-mount the compressor as you mentioned...Holley makes brackets for the R4 and Sanden SD7B10 compressors to accomplish that task.

CJ Pony Parts offers AJE K-Members for $299 shipped to your door, I would not go through Jegs
