Lh6 to ly2
I recently took a truck in on trade. It's a 2007 Sierra 1500 4x4 (nnbs). It currently has a blown up lh6. My local salvage yard has a ly2 4.8 out of a 07 nnbs truck for a very nice price. It's 3 times less than any lh6 in the area. I want to get this truck back on the road for as cheap as possible. I don't care if the 4.8 is less powerful. I'm under the impression if I reprogram my 5.3 ecu to run 4.8 parameters, it's a direct bolt in. I know this wouldn't be a popular swap because of performance loss, but maybe one of you guys can point me in the right direction with this. Also, the VIN on the ECU must match this vehicle for emissions testing.
Joe, when you say reprogrammed, do you mean for the AFM "delete" since the LY2 doesnt have it or full stock LY2 tune file? I ask because I want to swap a knocking stock LH6 that's currently in a Envoy Denali to an LY2 and i have HP tuners. Wondering if i can find a stock LY2 tune file in the repository.
