Power Steering Pump Shaft Play
The short question is, how much axial play should their be in a new ACDelco 2005 CTS-V power steering shaft? I have about 1/16"
I am doing an 2013 LS3 swap into my 1973 Corvette. I got the CTS-V accessories to fit the donor LS3 from a Camaro into the tight 'vette space in front. I am also doing a borgeson conversion which seems to require the pulley to come off the power steering in order to get a fitting on. I tried to pull the pulley with my old school pulley remover and managed to only bend the pulley, so I will have to get a new one. I will plan on renting the tool from autozone to get the pulley off and the new one on. After bending the pulley and cussing the appropriate amount I noticed there was a bit axial play in the pulley, so I thought I wrecked the pump as well, but after thinking about it, there is no way I could have put any force on the shaft to the pump, I was just putting force on the outside of the pulley to the shaft. The axial play may have been there before I tried to remove the pulley, but now I am a bit paranoid about it and do not want to have an issue once everything is together. Let me know your thoughts!
Thanks,
Scott
