Vehicle speed sensor wiring Hello, i have an L33 5.3 sitting in a 1988 Mazda Rx-7, with a WC T-5 behind it, which uses an earlier style VSS,
and the standalone I am using has a newer style plug, theyre both two pin, but different styles. My question is, if i splice the right connector into my harness, are the sensors between the earlier style sensor and later sensor the same?
Don't want to somehow ruin something, cant find much info on it. Thanks!

I'm with garys 68 -- the VSS for the T5 is a 2 wire, sine wave unit. I'd add, if you just want to provide a speed signal for the ecu's purposes, it should work fine. If you're using a factory ecu and need a signal that can be accurately processed for speedo use too - then a recalibration will likely need to happen.

Do all two plug vss work the same then? I.e the older style and a 3rd gen 2 plug vss?
Ford uses a 3 wire, square wave. As far as I know GM uses 2 wire sine wave. I used an aftermarket universal one on my trans, worked fine.
There probably is a threshold voltage needed for the ecu to see it. I had to adjust the spacing between the reluctor and VSS to get enough signal. Doubt you'll have to do that on a GM unit.

The old fox body VSS/T5/AOD sensor in mine was a 2 wire.
2 wire is either stationary magnet reading a toothed reluctor or moving magnets with fixed sensor. The movement/magnetic field generates an electrical output that varies proportionally with speed. Sine wave output. The 3 wire set ups convert the sine wave to a square wave output.
