Default LS ? Engine into a Porsche 996

I recently became aware of a conversion being done to replace the "blown up" engines in Porsche 996's (911 from 1999 to 2004 and later as a 997)
Because the Porsche engines in that era have a chance of "grenading" and replacement Porsche engines being very expensive a few guys have been replacing them with the good old CHEV..
There are Porsche cars with blown engines available at good prices,. and from what I see a "Crate" engine can be bought new for about $10,000, adapter parts are available and it seems a good fit,
I am "researching" this as a project, or in case I "loose" the engine in my car...
Tnx

There are a few Porsche swaps on this forum. Do a search and they should show up.

There are plenty of crate engine options for a lot less than $10k....
