Default Attaching an LS3 to engine stand

Sorry guys, I know this is probably an easy question for most of you. So simple I couldn’t find any threads on it. I am about to pull an LS3 out of a donor car. What holes on the engine should I mount the engine stand to? Pics would be very helpful if anyone has them.....I’m also a fan of pop up picture books, lol. Also, what bolts/lengths are recommended? Do they need to be torqued? Thanks....just don’t want to mess anything up

I screwed mine into the same holes that the bell housing would attach to. Length? Depends on how long they need to be to go through the 'fingers' on YOUR engine stand. You want thread engagement that's at least the diameter of the bolt. I bought them a bit longer than needed and then used washers under the head to adjust the length. Once you have proper thread engagement, you're done. No need to torque them. The trick is getting the mounting height sufficiently above the crank centerline so the motor is balanced when you go to flip it upside down.

Unfortunately, didn't have a shot from the backside.....

Sorry for focus -- found this in my 'big' file of swap picks. Tried to place the rotation point a little above where I thought the camshaft was. Was still a bit top heavy on rotation, but manageable.

Here was my first, incorrect attempt to mount my LS6:

Note the two lower arms of the engine stand are bolted to the oil pan, so if you plan to remove the oil pan for any reason, don't do that. Since I did need to remove the oil pan, I figured out I was a dumbass, and had put the engine back on the hoist and reposition the arms. I don't have another picture of how I ended up mounting it, but as I recall the two upper arms went to the bellhousing mounting holes at about 10:30 and 1:30, and the lower arms went to the lowest two mounting holes at about 3 and 9 o'clock.

Edit: Found one shot with the engine upside-down on the stand. Not the best shot, but looks like I kept one of the upper arms in the same mounting hole that it was in in the "wrong" picture I posted, and then moved the other upper arm up to the 10:30 mounting hole.

You can see, if you look closely, AAIIC used the same 4 holes I did on his final mount. The 2 outermost holes on each side. And then slide the pivot point up a bit above camshaft height.

It's basically the same bolt pattern as the SBC engines less one hole, try and get the turning tube centered on the cam bore to make it balanced better
