Default 1972 Monte Carlo

2 of the previous drivers

Into the shop

Old and tired
A customer of mine was looking for a car to start a project but just wasn't sure what he wanted. He decided to build something to scratch the itch until he finds what he really wants as a keeper. 2 days later a friend of mine texts me , telling me his 72 Monte has to go. This car was bought used by his dad and driven for a few years, handed down to him, driven for driven for 35 years, then given time his son and driven for another 5 years. All that to say it's been a good car for that family.
This is the last year for the GM A body getting some much needed help in power. Out with th 2 barrel 350 with 165 HP and in goes a .040 over 5.3 with a mild cam.
Lots of other work is getting done while we are at it.

This customer is trying to keep the cost under control for this build. That engine would fit but may put the build over budget a little......

This one stalled for quite a while but it's moving forward pretty quickly now.

I may have missed it, but what was the exhaust makeup on this? Ideas on parts costs for the swap? My first car was a 71 monte that I bought for $300 back in the 80's. Got it running to drive for high school and then rebuilt everything on it. Loved that car. Regret selling it. Like many, I've wanted to get back into one and would love to do something like this. Also curious on the mounts and front accessory drive and harness that was used. If it's all in there above or in the videos, I'll re-watch. Great job by the way! Looks and sounds awesome!

Glad you liked it. The owner absolutely loves the car.
if you want a cost breakdown, email me at brian@autovation.biz
The exhaust is 2 1/2 mandrel bent with an x pipe and hooker aerochamber nufflers.

The front accessory drive is two kits from ict billet(can't remember exactly which ones) one for the alternator and power steering the other for the ac compressor. I used a camaro water pump with spacers to give it the truck spacing.

The harness is a re worked factory one from the junkyard . i use factory harnesses for most of my swaps because I get them for $35. Here's a video of basically what I do to receive work them
