Default 3rd gen question with existing k-memeber

I have a tub AJE k-member. Its the older style. The one that likes to crack in the lower corners. I plan to do a swap. Its a truck 5.3 of course. Before i even struggle... Will a truck pan fit?

Who has an AJE k member and what lsx pan did you use?

Thanks in advance!

Whether it fits or not, a truck pan sticks down too far in any car-based LS installation. Holley's pans usually fit most car-based installs.

And so does the aftermarket y pipe designed for a 7qt oil pan. I would image a 6qt pan would hang lower vs a 5qt if not an unusual shape.
However, the question is still not answered.

So inputs on those who HAVE done an lsx swap into a 3rd gen with an AJE k-member.

Thanks in advance!

I have a 3rd gen. As far as GM pans go....

1) The truck pan will clear the stock k-member so likely would clear any k-member. However the truck pan is a bad choice for a street car because the sump drops so low to the ground.

2) The other GM oil pan that fits a stock k-member is the 4th gen F-body, but it has a partial windage tray with shallow front clearance to rods. But this is what people mostly use.

3) C5 LS6 "batwing" will clear the center, but not clear the suspension A-arm mounts. It will clear a BMR k-member A-arm mounts though, and perhaps others.

Improved Racing has pictures of different oil pans with dimensions. Your best bet is to get under the car and measure up for your situation. You might be able to fit Corvette C6 oil pan, which is a better pan than F-body.

I was able to barely fit a Holley 302-1 oil pan with UMI solid mounts doing a dry fit up to k-member outside the car. That pan has clearance for 4.125" stroke, including crank scraper and full length windage tray. Again, anything that clears a stock k-member will probably work with any k-member.
