Cut and extend OBD-II port? (2008 5.3 Vortec Gen IV)
I had the stock wiring harness sent away and rebuilt/thinned. Today I mounted the ECU and the small fuse box on the inner drivers fender which was pretty well my only option. It's looking like the OBDII port and the gas pedal plug wires are not going to be long enough to reach. Can I cut and extend my OBDII plug? I'm thinking splice in pieces so it would be two solder joints per strand. I thought I read somewhere you couldn't splice them? If it's doable do I need to use the same wire gauge?

FYI, we extend these cables, for the work, I do 20-50 feet. Best to use either shielded 1 pair cable and ground the shield on one end only or twist the wires. This will help with electronic noise related issues (only an issue if you are running software while driving or using the connection for gauges)
