Default LS1 cam

I’m rebuilding my LS1 motor had the machine shop clean and install new cam bearings for me. I’m currently putting it back together; so I got a new cam shaft the stage one summit racing ghost cam. I put it on but it’s pretty tight; I can’t turn it by hand but can turn it by wrench. So I took it out then tried using my stock cam shaft; moved a little easier still a little stiff, but I can turn it by hand. I used red assembly lube also. If any input would be appreciated thank you

I would mike the journals to be sure it's within spec. Mike the old cam too. Should be 2.165"

I would pull the cam and see if any of the bearing ID's are VERY close to 2.165". They should all be the same. It's the OD's that differ.

A machine shop probably installed the bearings in the correct order, but even then we've seen tight bearings at times. Our first call would be to the machine shop and see if they want to have a look at it. We don't recommend this and it's a bit barbaric, but many machine shops have a cutter cam made from an old cam. This is basically using a high speed narrow cutting wheel across the cam journals at an angle to find the tight spot. A sharp deep trench .080 deep or so will work. Thorough cleaning must be done afterwards as shavings do re-enter the galleys.

thabks for the advice; going to measure with a bore gauge to see if the IDs are correct first
