High performance catalytic converters

High performance catalytic converters
I'm looking for advice regarding high performance cats. I like the looks of the spun stainless ones but do they work well? I need the smallest possible because of lack of room. I'm looking to knock down the smelly exhaust at idle. In two weeks I have a appointment with the tuner and I obviously need to get this done beforehand. Anybody regret putting cats on there swap? Thanks for any advice.

Don't regret mine at all - had to put them on when I moved to this area back in '06 --- could take them off now (no more inspection because of age of car) but see no reason to do so. They work. Company I got them from back in '07 no longer in business...

i use MagnaFlow 99206HM cats on my swap, can be had for about 100 each or so. Work good. I don't regret them at all, i hate the smell of no cats.

I pulled the trigger on some Stainless Works cats. Ouch, they're not cheap but the slim design and knowing that Stainless Works is high quality I bit the bullet. Hope it's ok to put in the link for anyone following this thread.https://stainlessworks.net/catalytic...design-2-5-end

What I have found is that converters tend to mellow the tone a bit, "knocking off the rough edges" of the sound. A bit raspier without them, more of an edge.

I'll definitely update the thread. I will say that when I pull it apart I'll also be replacing the Pypes Street Pro mufflers with some Borla XS Pro mufflers. I have a loose date for my tuner in two weeks so I have to get this all done beforehand.
