2007 Chevy Express 4L60e wiring/coding questions
I've found a few articles that have pin outs and helpful advice, but I wanted to ask everyone here a couple of questions.
I've got a 2007 Chevy Express with the 5.3 v8 and a 4L60e tranny. This was AWD from the factory and converted to 4wd by a previous owner.
I've built a camper interior into it and added weight.
On long highway drives (over 1.5 hrs or so) if the Tranny selector is in D, I will get a very hard 1-2 shift when exiting the highway and driving in town until everything cools down (engine is not running hot, temps below the 210 mark, tranny oil about 195-200F). Occasionally I will get a p8094 (over pressure shift) code.
I've had this investigated at a tranny shop in Denver, but my drive to denver is about an hour at highway speeds, but goes from elevation 11,000ft down to 5300ft and the engine and tranny are not working hard. Of course it was not doing the hard shift when I took it to the shop (they also didn't test drive it for 4 hours after I dropped it off as well). They said everything checks out.
This past weekend, we were most on rolling hills at 65mph, so I kept it in 3rd on the shifter. Even on a hot day and a 4 hour drive this did not cause the harsh shift. I think the TC stayed locked at the higher rpms, and the tranny was not bouncing between 4th and 3rd and the TC locking/unlocking. I think gas mileage may have suffered, so I'd like to control the TC and the 3rd-4th shifting. Can this be done?
Is there a way to interrupt a wiring harness lead (toggle switch or similar) so the torque converter stays locked when I have the switch either open or closed (depending on if it is normally open or closed). I think this can be done with coding, but the closest tranny shop is in Denver. If I could do this with a switch, it would be easy and cost a few bucks.
Also, is there a way to do the same with the shift solenoid so I can have it remain in 4th or 3rd depending on speed and gradients (as in, interrupt the electrical connection when the tranny is in the gear I want it in)?
This is the only automatic I've ever driven, and I'd honestly prefer a manual tranny- even in a 6000lb campervan.
Thanks everyone!
