6L80 software changing needed? Hello
I got an L83 from a 2019 Suburban that is to be installed in a 1988 Silverado, 2WD. The L83 had 4WD originally. Now I am looking for an automatic transmission.
Here in Sweden it is not much to choose from when it comes to used parts. Will any 6L80 2WD work on a genV engine? (I am using the ECU and harness belonging to the engine)
I have two choices, 6L80 from a 2011 Avalanche, or one from a 2015 Suburban. The 2015 is probably the best choice, but it cost more.
If I install the 2011 Avalanche transmission, will the software in the tranny work together with the GenV engine and ECU, or is another software needed?
The engine ECU needs to be told that it is a 2WD tranny, I suppose, but my main question is about the transmission choice.
