Default Fuel pump failure?

In my 1969 GS California swap I'm running an external fuel pump that came with my MSD Atomic kit. Yesterday the pump has become noticeably louder, and now is struggling to pump under hard acceleration. This is after maybe 3 months of actual use. Pump was built fall of 2017, installed over the winter of 2018 for the 455.

Just ordered a real Walbro 255 external pump to replace what I think is a cheap China unit. Wondering what the expected life cycle of a external pump is? Anyone else have this problem?

External pump? You should mount it lower than the fuel and as close as possible to the tank if external. FWIW

I know you have to reconfigure the tank - but an internal pump is a better mouse trap, quieter, runs cooler, etc.

I've had a couple external walbro 255s go out on me as well. I'm running a fueI cell so at the time I really didn't have many internal options. I'm in Arizona so it gets incredibly hot here. After the second failure I found that Holley had made an internal pump setup for Fuel cells and I haven't had any more issues. If you can get the pump in your tank do it and never look back.
