Default Another hydroboost question

Got my hydroboost system installed and plumbed. Ls2 with corvette power steering pump. Car has a t-bird rack and I installed the proper flow control fitting onto the pump in my original setup (vacuum boosted power brakes).

Today I bled the brakes, fired the car up and bled the power system with the car on the lift. Plenty of stop-to-stop wheel turns & the steering feels smooth.

I have great power assist from the new hydroboost. Brakes feel awesome compared to the old vacuum stuff.

Problem is noise. Groan/whine when applying hard pedal. Friend says the sound comes form the pump but I also hear it int the booster (I think).

Hoped it was air and would go away, but it’s run for a while and I even took it for a short drive. It’s essentially the noise you hear when steering wheel is turned to full lock.

Started wondering if the flow restrictor on the pump is causing this? Thought maybe I could plum one between the brake booster and the T-bird rack instead? This would put full flow to the brake booster?

I’m hoping someone has put the hydroboost on a car with the T-bird rack and has some advice?

Appreciate any help!

joe

Did a bunch of reading and found a post that said to put this Heidts power steering valve (adjustable bypass type) in the pressure line between the hydroboost and the rack.

I have about the exact same set up, only I have an F body pump and a Fox body rack because the Turbo Coupe T Bird rack I had was way to quick steering. But anyway, mine doesn't make any noise other than when turned to full lock. I do know they can sometimes take a long time to get the air out of. If it steers good, then I wouldn't mess with the flow control valve. Just give it some time and check the level frequently to see if it goes down when the air comes out. If its foamed, which it most likely is since its making noise, it will take longer for all the small bubbles to work their way to the top of the reservoir.

Thanks ls1nova,

No foaming. Steering is still great, only have noise now when applying the brakes. I’ll give it some time to see if clears up.
