DIY a/c bracket
I am making a bracket for a low mount driver side A/C for a LQ4 going in a 71 Ventura.
How thick should the metal be for the lower mount? I have 3/16 but not sure if I should grab some 1/4 to be safe.
I'm making something like this.
Thank you.
Picture reminds me of the low mount by Alan Groves that I used on mine.

factory tensioner seems to the lowest point after compressor is relocated. Any ideas on how to tuck that up will be useful. May hit sway bar depending on engine placement.
Most sanden compressors have rear exit fittings that are horizontal or inline to the compressor.
SD7B10 is a mini compressor with side exit fittings, requires an adapter for hoses that is usually pricey. SD508 would be the next choice, theres a rear cap with ports coming straight out, radially. Most low mount are based on SD7B10 (dirty dingo etc), would be nice to use SD508 and get more compressor displacement. I called vintage air they said the SD7B10 is no issue in a camaro size interior.
SD7. 8.9" length 5" diam
Sanden SD7H13 129cc displacement
Sanden SD7H15 155cc displacement
SD5 7.1" length 4.8" diam
Sanden SD508 138cc displacement
SD7B10 Side ports 6.9" length 4.5" diam
Sanden 7176 100cc displacement

looking at using an older style tensioner, thru bolt with pin locator on back, think vortec / tpi era.
heres one example, theres a lot of these available
