I'm doing a V6 LFX swap and have a question regarding the oil level in the pan. I got the pan below out of Australia, comes out of a Holden. They use both a V6 and a V8 in this model so this pan is quite a bit like the GTO pan with it's front sump. Also the windage tray bolts to the pan. The dip stick I have is from the Camaro the motor came out of.
OK for the question. How high up in the sump should the oil come?? Should it be just below where the windage tray is??
I’d 1) find listed oil capacity without filter for the Holden the pan came on, 2) place pan at the angle it’s going to sit at in your car, 3) place spec amount of liquid in the pan, 4) install dipstick, 5) mark stick where liquid level hits.

Just about what I ended up doing. Joined a Holden group out of Australia,,, turns out 6.5 liters is factory spec,, some say 7 is no problem. Put 5.5 liters in the pan,, looks OK as doesn't hit windage tray and marked dip stick.
