Default need A/C spacing info

Looking for some info on the spacing on the A/C units vs the harmonic balancers. Can't seem to find much on this. I have always run truck motors and truck belt spacing. Current project is going with A/C but the room up front at the radiator is a little scarce so I was going to switch to an LS1 water pump and harmonic balancer. Does anyone know if the truck A/C setup lines up with the back groove on a LS1 balancer? I have 8 or so brackets and compressors for a truck setup so I'd be happy if they line up as they're free to me. Also a high mount setup with one belt won't work, that space is also at a premium. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Depends on what LS1 you are talking about. Corvettes and Camaros in the late 90's to early 2000's both used LS1's, but with different spacing. I am going to assume you are talking about an F body balancer from 98-02 since they are most common, but the answer is the same for both of them, the A/C set up from a truck won't line up with it unless you are building your own custom brackets, then anything is possible.

I apologize yes I was referring to an Fbody. So what exactly changes? Is the bracket set back a bit more and the compressors are the same spacing? Or is everything different? And out of curiosity does a truck setup end up close to the 6 rib on the fbody balancer? I’m a cheap guy I’m just seeing what I can get to work without buying a bunch of stuff.

F body uses a different compressor and everything is moved back further than on a truck engine. It's not a lot, but just enough that it won't line up. Here is a pic i got off the internet that shows the differences.

I did know the LS3 from the camaros have truck spacing. That may be the route I take at this point. Easier to buy 1 water pump than all new accessories and a balancer. I just need to double check that upper hose placement. I know those also change with the different pumps. Maybe fbody with adapters if i need it on the other side? Anyone run a water pump like that? Those adapters any good? Leak.. etc. Thanks.

This is the 2010 Camaro waterpump, truck spacing. the PS Pump/Alt bracket is from a corvette spaced off the head 1.5 inches.

I always liked the Corvette spacing because it tucks everything close to the block. Then you can use the Holley or the C5/C6 high mount alternator and PS pump without having to space anything out and run the AC down low on the passenger side.
