Default 69 Camaro build with 2012 SS donor

Hey all - just thought I'd share some pics. I've posted a couple issues and really appreciate the help so far. Love looking at all the other projects, so figured I may as well share some of mine. I bought the 69 about 8 years ago and basically work 365 days a year, so I've had no time, and well, I have an ex-wife, so not a lot of free $$ either I have a good buddy who does paint and body work and has done a couple restorations in his day as well. He's doing most of the work, but I dig in and do what I can when I can.
I bought the 2012 SS donor car about 2 years ago now I think - sweet ride, only 13k miles I believe. Ran great when I got it from the insurance auction. So, the plan is to incorporate as much of the 2012 into the 69 interior as possible - with that, we took the entire dash, steering column, wiring harness, shifter and tunnel (the 69 tunnel was too narrow for the 6L80e), front seats, console, etc and are morphing it into the 69. Going along pretty good - did run into a snag w/ the exhaust manifold not clearing the PS box, so I guess we'll go headers?, had to modify the cross member slightly for a little extra clearance at the AC pump, seats fit nicely, dash fits pretty good - just going to recover the top section w/ leather to match the seats now that we've changed it a little.
The issue now is just getting it past this stupid theft deterrent system error -- we have all the 2012 components in this car other than ABS. No 2012 body panels or anything, but the ECM, BCM, etc are all with it. I still have the donor car too, so hopefully we'll get it sorted out soon. It did run and drive fine, before we pulled the engine/trans.

The pair

2012 dash in the 69

Tunnel widened a bit....

Console and dash mock up

Seat mock up

Firewall fill in in progress

Tunnel welded in

Stupid VATS can KMA!

No PS box clearance

Putting things together...

Dash and tunnel inside w/ no dash pad in place..

Wow great start, I have 68 and 2010 donor car just pulled the motor and trans this weekend. But I would like to use the interior much like you. How did you get the dash and shifter panel to fit I guess is my first of many questions. Do i need to keep the wiring harness and what transmission mount did you use, my car has a 6060.

Thanks man! The dash out of the 2012 was actually only about 1/2" difference in width to the 69! We were shocked, so that's pretty easy honestly. There are some large spot welded in brackets on either side that you'll need to remove and several bolts to the firewall and shifter tunnel, but it went pretty easy honestly. Putting it in the 69 was not bad either. I suppose we got kind of luck, but when we cut out the old tunnel and sat what we took out of the newer car on top, it honestly bolted right up to the mocked in dash and everything, so we just went with that. Check out cryptonomad on here - he has some killer pics and is super detailed...as for mounts and such - I looked a few different places - brp hot rods was about the best option I found --- not sure if we can share that stuff on here - so hopefully I don't get booted There are other vendors for 1st gen LS swaps too. Good luck on your project!

Your thread gave me the inspiration to start my today, I'm having trouble loading my photos. Okay thanks, I will work on the dash this weekend, I have a 6060 with the divorced shifter but I likely can relocate. Sounds like tunnel it will need to come up a bit any case.
