Default Water Temp Sensor

Trying to test water temp sensor (in dvr sided head)...will not give relay the go for elec fan. Question...in checking pcm, should I be able to signal pcm by using heat gun on a temp sensor plugged into harness? the pcm is a 2004 gm truck...using this setup in a conversion...1962 Impala
Thanks

Not sure that will work. Was the PCM tuned for fans? Because a 2004 Silverado would have had a mechanical fan originally.

In a 2004, the ECM has the capability to operate fans, BUT you need HPtuners or similar to activate it. Plus you need either the factory or aftermarket harness to run the fans.

Do you have an obd-II device? you can download the Torque app for free and see your sensors temperature. As already stated it's more then likely the pcm is not tuned for electric fans yet.

And you are wired correctly? Those pins on the ECM will ground the relay coil to turn it on. You need to supply Ign/12v to the other side of the coil.

Wellllll...you've just struck a reality nerve for me...I did ck circuitry and have one side of coil to grnd and the other is signal from pcm (which is nor correct based on what you just said). Thanks for asking what might have seems obvious... I need to change that.
Thank you again...good question
