Firebird Ls1 swap I have a 98 Trans am I plan to pull the motor and rebuild it with a little extra love but the body is junk. I came across a 00 firebird with the v6, how much of a pain is it to swap the v6 out with the v8?
98 uses a different fuel level sender, and a few other BCM differences. You can also potentially run into an issue putting an older motor in a newer car for inspections. Many states don't allow it. However, you could probably reflash the ECU to work with the LS1, and get away with just re-pinning a few items in the engine harness.

If you have both cars in hand I would swap everything from car to car. I mean everything. Wiring harnesses. Gas tank. Dash. Time consuming but it could save a bunch of headaches trying to trouble shoot problems.
