Newbie looking for e78 info
Hey! Looking for any info from someone who has LS swapped using an e78 ecm.
I'm putting a l96 with a 6L90e into a volvo wagon. I've got a complete 2011 2500HD to pull whatever I need. I've started on marking all the wiring on the engine harness connection to the fuse box from the GM upfitter site, but I can't find the pinout to the 24 pin connector for the DBW and ODB2 connections.
Any help with building a standalone harness or experience swapping using the e78 is appreciated!

Yep! Still working out minor issues, but overall it was successful. You'll most likely need to get a fan controller. The programming for the fans didn't work out through HP tuners.

What year and vehicle is the motor coming out of? The hardest part was identifying the main connector pinout and building the standalone harness / relay / fuse box. I had to use a 2012 schematic even though mine is a 2011.

I had to trim the hood reinforcement a bit to get it in there. It needed trimming at the throttle a bit also. I'm running the truck intake and a large alternator. Going to the car intake and a smaller alternator would probably make it fit without trimming.
The fan control was no big deal. Spent $30 on a temp switch and housing and ran it back to a set of relays. Holds temp well so far.
I'm running the 6l90e trans, and sts machining engine mounts. Pretty tight fit but it works. Holley oil pan and summit ls swap manifolds.

The tunnel at the firewall didn't need really any adjustment. Most of the "massaging" took place further back. I'm running a "chevro-volvo" 2 piece driveshaft I built on my lathe and tig welded together. It's super tight and required some shimming after the install. The 6l90 yoke is huge compared to the volvo shaft. I'm going to run this setup until I get to the ford 8.8 rear conversion at some point. The dana 30 is holding in the there for now. I tried to get the engine as close to a 3 degree pitch as possible. The trans mount is flipped over, uses the stock 6L90e mount, and has an access hole to reach the nut. The car has the 30mm lowered performance springs on it. Handles better, but I probably wouldn't go that way again because of the roads in my area. Probably could use an adjustable panhard rod and trailing arms to get it perfect. But it's not bad as is.

Can you let me know if there was any issues removing VATS?
Did you do it with HP Tuners?
I'm at this point. The wiring harness is almost ready, LT1Swap helped there big time so now I'm just thinking about that. I have the exact same engine + trans but going into a gbody.
