Default Ls1 dimensions

I am looking for a swap into a 1969 Triumph but was needing some basic dimensions. Can someone with an engine out take some quick measurements. I think it would help out all the hybrid guys with way out ideas. I guess we would need at least length, from flywheel to balancer, height, from oil pan sump to highest point, and from oil pan (not sump) to highest point, and width at widest point(heads) and at top of oil pan. I know there are a whole lot of other measurements that would come in handy, but this would be a start.
Good luck to everyone swapping,
jon

I've got an engine on a stand, if nobody responds by saturday morning, I will post up (I won't have a chance to measure until then).

Ok, here's a quick start.

Height:
bottom/front of oil pan to top of stock intake: 20.5"
bottom of oil pan to top of intake at tallest point: 24.5"

Width:
Head to head: 20"
*stock valve covers stick out 1/4" past the head on each side

Length:
back of block at bellhousing surface to front of timing cover: 22.5"
*my balancer isn't installed, but the stock one should add 2.75" to the length

I'd say all dimensions are within 0.5"
I only had one beer!

hope this helps

Mine weighed about 120 lbs less than a cast iron SBC with a 200R4 trans.

I've been wondering this myself as I've been going through the swap and your post got me just motivated enough to take my bathroom scale out to the garage and take some measurements.

I'll qualify my numbers with the fact that my measurements were not super accurate, for one I was using a bathrom scale and two it had a 270lb limit, so I had to support the motor at 4 points and take a measurement one point at a time, then add the numbers up.

Results:
sbc 350, iron heads, dynomax headers, al intake with Th350 w/converter and all fluids=658lbs

Complete LS1/T56 stock w/exhaust manifolds all fluids=570lbs

I'd say my accuracy would be plus/minus 25lbs for each

Thanks for the weights and measures everybody. Now I just have to figure out what my current setup weighs. I'll be taking out a 2.0l straight cast iron 6 and a 4 speed manual, I imagine the new motor/tranny won't be too far off weight wise, maybe it'll be lighter ??? either way I am trying to mount it as far back as possible to get some weight onto the back half the of car, them maybe I'll at least have a shot at getting some traction. time will tell.

Here's a couple of additional dimensions that might be helpful:
Bellhousing surface to tip of water pump=~28"
Bellhousing surface to front of crank pulley=25 5/8"
Crank C/L to top of intake=16 1/2"

Ya know Ive heard of plastic replica's of engines you can buy and bolt in and stuff, to see how it would fit and look and all of that. Im sure there only a few pounds and a little easier to work with tan 570 lbs. I dont know if there are any websites but im going to look it up... good luck.

Seems kinda expensive just to figure out how far back you can put your real engine.

Yeah, it's kinda pricey, especially since I'll only need it once. If the measurements look like they will fit, I'll make it fit, I just wanted an idea of what size to look at how hard it'll be.
Thanks for the info though, If you did swaps all the time with a particular engine, that would definetely come in handy.

It is probably better just to get some main dimensions and get a large block of styrofoam, like the blocks they use to set boats on top of. Then just carve it up some.
