Default Lq4 with mods question

So I'm new at this..I have a 2001 Silverado 2500 hd with lq4 and l480e I do believe there's 4:10 gears. Now I haven't done anything yet but want to do here's what I'm planning. I want to rebuild the entire motor and swap cam with 224/228 cam rebuild the 317 heads on it add an ls3 intake and ls9 head gaskets. I don't know if this set up will work or not or if it's worth it. Like I said I'm new I want to learn I've been doing a lot of googling these past fews days so I'm open to opinions and ideas

That is a lot of cam for a 3/4 ton truck, and you list no other real mods. You would be happier with a more conservative truck grind.
Your present grind is a 196/201, .467/.479, 116 LSA. A 212/218, .550/.550 114 cam would work better.
An LS3 manifold will not fit your cathedral port heads. It is made for rectangular port heads like those on LS3 engines. A better one would be the Gen IV truck manifold
LS9 gaskets have no advantage for your setup. Some thinner .045" would work better.
Educate yourself first. Find out the differences between all the different LS engines, both Gen III and Gen IV. See which ones get rectangular port heads and which don't.

What do you do with the truck? Like said, a smaller, more torque focused camshaft would be better, and milling the heads, or even swapping them to gain compression, would be the first thing I would do.

If you want to run the LS3 intake you could swap the 317"s for L92 heads. As said above you have heavy truck. Confirm the rear end gears. I'm betting they are 3.73's unless the truck is special ordered.
Anyone can chime in here but would a "small" stall converter help? Something like 2200 rpm?
If you do anything cam wise use new/better valve springs and push rods.

Yes lol I bought my truck used obviously it's seems to me the person before me used it for towing a fifth wheel the gas tank has written in white marker (4:10) gears I'm assuming the rear end was worked on. I have kinda looked into a 3000 stall and I've been kinda thinking about swaping heads out to but I came to the conclusion that if I were to want turbo it down the road and put my drive train in something else and make it a little more drag racey that the 317 heads would be better for that. I don't know if that's true or not but that's what I've seen on Google. How ever I did have a question about the pushrods. How do I know what size pushrods to use when swaping came and I planned on replacing valves valve springs and rockers with something that can handle more power
That and my my rear end has posi not limited slip

Well a buddy of mine has a 5.9 Cummins the he daily drives but has (I don't know anything about diesels) bigger injectors intake turbo all that **** he puts 40 lbs boost and claims he has between 500 and 600 hp. Now the truck is my daily driver how ever I want to keep up but not blow my tranny or rear end how ever if I do rid the truck I'm keeping motor and trans to put in something else a little more drag so in the future the plan is to eventually turbo and build up..but like I said I'm new and trying to learn
