Ls1 Swap - start up problems/fuel pump?

Ls1 Swap - start up problems/fuel pump? I have a ls1 swap in my c10. I let the truck sit multiple times with out keeping a battery tender on the batteries (dual red top optimas). So I would only give it a small charge prior to driving it. Recently went for a drive and it left me stranded, I got it towed home and it started the next day no problem.
The next time it wouldn’t start, I noticed the fuel pump wouldn’t prime prior to start up. I disconnected the fuel pump connectors and used a test light and the light lit up on key turn as it should i reconnected everything and it started up. Now every time it doesn’t prime I disconnect the fuel pump and reconnect it and it starts up. Would this be more of a battery problem or fuel pump?
as of now I keep the truck on a optima battery charger/maintenance, the charger does go into maintenance but also sometimes after charging it for a day it says unable to charge.
