Battery light wiring help I’m swapping a 5.3 from a 2002 avalanche into a 1982 s10.
i know that the alternator is internally regulated through the ecm on this particular engine. I’m trying to get my battery light to work. I have read people just say to leave it off. I wired in indicator lights and new gauges into the truck and they are all hooked to the pre existing harness that was in the truck and they receive 12v switch from the pink and black wire that usually runs the battery light in the s10 (hooked to the alternator. So In the s10 harness there is an excite wire and a 12v switched wire with a resistor that runs to the original alternator. Is there a way to run this battery light with the swapped alternator and still use the internal regulated feature?

Have your tuner set the two alternator OBD2 codes to NONE (not reported). Then connect alternator "L" terminal wire to the factory wire that goes to the dash light. Essentially it sets the alternator to regulate same as a S10 config. Done. :-)
