How do you completely remove any coolant from the block?
How do you completely remove any coolant from the block? I am building up my chassis now with a 6.0l 2010 silverado HD and I am going to switch to the Evans waterless coolant in hopes of extending radiator life. But I need the coolant completely gone. I have evacuated the heater core w/shop vac and blown out anything that would go through the heater lines coming off the block. I have not removed any drain blocks on the side of the engine yet. Is there a specific spot that is absolutely the lowest point in the coolant so I could ensure I get all the old stuff out?

Like you just said, take the block drain plugs out. let it air dry for 24 hours,and you should be good.
Evans Waterless Coolant - now there's a product I haven't heard of in a while.
Anybody out there have any real-world experience with it? I considered running that stuff on a build I did in the mid '00s, but reconsidered because of the possibility that I might need to do a roadside repair, and I wouldn't have any. That, and it's expensive.

I've removed the drain plugs getting a bit more water out (nasty looking). Question for experienced LS folks--does that eliminate all the water? Also, since it was pretty gunky, can I put clean water in the heater hose inlet to go thru and drain thru the drain plugs and clean it out? Re the Merv, you're right. But this is where the LS action is and big brains with regular traffic. Mods can move as they see fit.
