Default 4l60e trans identification help E36 ls swap

Hi I could really use some help with understanding what 4l60e trans I have and how to make it work with my 5.3 LS swap. I bought a cheap 4l60e the guy didn’t know what it came out of. the side of the trans says GMPT 4l60e 48. It’s missing it’s sticker of course. When bolting it up to my LS I noticed two bolts can’t go in. The trans doesn’t have a bolt hole at 12 o clock. The Bellhousing is removable and the output side has 6 bolts.

The next bigger issue was the flex plate will not line up and bolt to the torque converter that came with the trans.

I’m confused is this a Lt trans or something? What route would you recommend to make things work or do I need to find another trans? Thank you in advance I’m lost lol

You were sold a 1998, or older, 4L60E. Not only does the bolt pattern not match the flywheel, but the converter spacing is going to be wrong as well. It can be made to work, but would be better to start with the correct trans. You can use a 99-2006 unit. You can also use the 07 and later units if you get the correct segment for trans, and might have to do additional wiring.

Thanks for the reply if I got a 99-06 torque converter would this solve the issue? Also will a regular ls wiring harness/ecu work ok with this trans?

The 99-2006 Converter will not work with the older trans. Your "1998" trans has a 298MM input shaft, and the 1999-2006 & most later units (EXCEPT V6 and Colorado/Canyon/Hummer H3) uses a 300MM shaft... So, no, you cannot just swap the torque converter with that old trans and have it bolt together and work...
