Default Manual Conversion

I'm working on a project to LS swap an IH Scout II but use a T19 4 speed manual transmission and Dana 20 transfer case....oe Scout equipment from the 70s. I was told that the LS needs a speed sensor input and that it would be tough to get one out of the Dana 20. Does anyone know if this is true and if so more details?

The engine doesn’t care.
the ecu might but you didn’t say which one you are considering. Most of the ones I know of can be worked around a missing vss but it is best to have one.

That’s the other question I had. Is there anything specific I should be looking for to work around the speed sensor issue? There is one out of a 2011 Silverado and one out of a 2002 Suburban for sale locally right now.

i dont know about the 11 motor off the top of my head. the 02 uses a 0411 ecu which generally will make tuning it easier just because theres lots more info out there and its a simpler system. the 11 has something in the e38/e67/whatever line so its going to be slightly trickier but there are still manual trans tunes out there from camaros and stuff.
terminator x is another way to go.
you will just need to find a good tuner but id look into getting a vss on there either way. theres lots of ways to do it from sheetmetal reluctor wheels that bolt to the yoke ( https://321fab.com/product/1350-yoke...eluctor-wheel/ ) or haltech sells a gps to pulse module, dakota digital i think has some that screw onto the stock cable fitting on the transmission. i have one from a long time ago for a toyota that i got from marlin something or other. its not that hard of a problem and it will let you get the tune to better handle coast down and clutch-in situations.

I've done 2 swaps with manual trans, an 02 and 05. Without a VSS signal, both would occasionally stall when coasting to a stop. Dakota Digital makes a pass thru VSS for the speedo output. If you cant get that to work, anything rotating with the trans output will work. You can make your own reluctor. I drilled and tapped a T10 case and used the reverse gear as the reluctor. Pretty much and 2 wire VSS will work.
