Default MAF problem, P0102

Long story short, I have no idea how long I've had this problem. My car never had a check engine light, but since I changed the gauges, I have one now. The code won't clear, and if you clear it with the engine running, you feel a slight hesitation when its cleared, but instantly comes back. I swapped sensors with another car, same issue. Scanner shows it stuck at 2.32g/s and 0 hertz. I've checked all the wiring and I have 11.75 volts on the pink wire with ignition on, and 5v testing between the ground wire and the reference wire. Also checked the PCV system and everything seems to be good, couldn't find any vacuum leaks. Also, if it was a vacuum leak,, would it set that code that fast? Anyone have any other suggestions?

What do you mean when you changed gauges, you have one now?

How long have you had the car? Are there any mods to the car?

Has it been tuned that you know of?

I guess that was clearer in my head when I wrote it, but re-reading it now I see how it can be taken a couple different ways. I built the car about 17 years ago, and at that time, I didn't put in any kind of check engine light. A couple years ago I swapped out the gauges for a Dakota Digital dash that has a check engine light built into it, so I hooked it up..... And it's been on ever since! The engine is a stock, 2001 Camaro LS1, and I've put 144,000 miles on it. Was told the pull out had 4,000 miles on it when I bought it. It has been tuned, it runs fine and gets pretty good gas mileage for being shaped like a brick. I am now wondering if maybe the MAF was failed in the tune when my buddy was tuning it, and never re-enabled. I guess I need to look into that.

That's why I asked. I'm wondering if the MAF has been failed. Stock, if the MAF fails, it has to see it fail twice before it will turn the light on.

Most people, including myself, when they intentionally fail it, its set to fail on first report.

I think it would be worth looking into.

It reads exactly the same. Also, following the service manual, I jumped the 5v reference wire and the ground and it still didn't change.

Well just to follow up, my tuner checked the tune and the MAF settings were stock. So I hooked up the scanner, started the car and started wiggling wires, and sure enough, the MAF started reading. So looks like I have a little bit of wire repair to do and I should be good to go. Thanks for the help though, its appreciated.
