Default 83 cutlass /ly6 ps issues

Hi , so I have an 83 cutlass ly6/whipple 2.9 /4l85 . Using type 2 pump with factory steering box . After car heats up , no ps at an idle or say pulling into parking lot . Has slightly smaller pulley due to clearance . Need a cooler ? Fluid don’t seem very hot . Cold it’s fine .tried a few pumps , same issue . Tried drilling out fitting to allow more fluid , didn’t work . Any ideas ?

I've been reading up on G-body swaps and I have seen that some guys need to put a pressure reducer in the LS pump when going to the smaller diameter pulley to clear the steering gear.

I think I did that . It was a Holley part . Then I drilled it out even more to reduce pressure . You would think higher pressure would, make it steer better ? If I touch the gas , is comes back on .
