Default Needing alternator help

I have a LS 6.0 in my Foxbody. 16V battery and alternator. Here is how the alternator is mounted. 12 o’clock. I found a belt that tensions well with the adjusting bolt. The seller told me the belt come off first pass, so I’d need to figure that out. I had the belt come off on the dyno first pass.

What can I do different? Do I need a tensioner?

Any input would be appreciated.

Pitching belts is "almost" always an alignment issue.

Could be the photo angle but it looks like the alternator needs to come forward. a piece of string in the rear groove of the pulleys will give you a good idea of which way to adjust if you don't have a laser alignment tool.

Those $130 laser alignment tools are worth their weight in gold. Especially if you're throwing $70+ belts, but that doesn't look quite like your case, but still.

Explain the 16 volt battery. Most automobile stuff I'm aware of is 13.5 volts.

I would use a straight edge before a laser, but lasers have their place.

The car was setup with the 16V when I bought it. From what I gather, faster running fans, faster running water pump, some say hotter spark, faster cranking rpm’s. Some say that after running multiple runs, with 16V, less likely to have your battery run down towards end of the night.

My car is not at all setup for street. 1 headlight is wired and 1 tail light. I’ll correct that once I get my car back from the shop. Some say the 16V will over power your bulbs and they can burn out sooner. But if running LED’s that’s not likely to happen.

Oh and also requires special charger.
