Default 2006 5.3 Gas pedal question

Hi, I have a 06 5.3 going into a 70 chevy truck. I would like to use a different style of throttle pedal than what came with the doner Silverado. I'm having problems with getting another pedal to actuate the throttle body, I've tried a 2010 Impala pedal that worked in my other build (07 6.2) but will not work after moving the 2 wires around like I did in the other swap. I've tried a mid 2000's corvette pedal that the harness manufactures said would work, no luck. I've swapped the wires in the plug that they told me to, Does anyone have a list of pedals that would work? I appreciate any help. Thanks

not sure if this will help, but i BELEIVE? that a van pedal (same year) should work, take a look and see if it meets your wants. i am looking into doing a pedal swap on my '13 truck pedal in my '86 LS swapped C10 PU and i believe the van pedal is a direct swap - except for the connector. good luck & keep us posted on what you do...

I think the vans were still cable driven but i could be wrong. What is wrong with the silverado pedal. I have a 2007 classic 1500 5.3 and it is comfortable and very responsive.

thanks for the reply, the years I am looking at are for the DBW models ('07-'13 - gen IV). the van pedal is "straight" down - not curved. I have no issues with the performance aspect of the truck pedal. my only reason for wanting to switch is that the design (curvature) of the pedal interferes with the brake pedal. my swap is on a '86 C10 2wd and a '13 LS swap. the pedal curve makes the pedal a little far from the brake pedal (too much separation) and I would like to bring the pedal a little closer... just my personal foot location.
thanks!

Can you cut, heat and or bend the original pedal to your liking? I cut my pedal arm and welded it back. It was from a 03 Hummer DBW. It works great in my 64 Chevelle.

No. The 06 pedal is all plastic.

If he is running a truck set up, He could run an 03-05 pedal but will need a tack module from that Era as well. Then flash the tune for an 03-05. Then he could modify the metal arm on the pedal and do what ever he wanted as you have done.

Mikes64, thanks... fastbrick is correct the later pedals are plastic. My thought is to cut the pedal & "bolt on" a small bracket to make the correction. the bolts would "pinch" the bracket in the plastic. the main objective is to make sure that the modification can withstand the foot pressure & not limit (modify) the overall full swing of the pedal. thanks.
hopefully this is not too much of a highjack from O.G post....
