A4 C5 Vette diff on a 6 speed manual......

A4 C5 Vette diff on a 6 speed manual...... Can anyone say with certainty whether or not a C5 Corvette diff from an A4 car can be swapped into a 6 speed manual C5? I'm getting mixed opinions on this, though the vast majority have said they will swap, but you must remove the large, round seal plate from the A4 diff before installing it on the 6 speed manual trans, and a retune is mandatory. Anyone know for sure? Thanks, guys.....
I have built a couple of the C5 T56's, from the looks of both the T56 and 4L60E Transaxle Units the bolt pattern appears to be the same for the Differential to bolt on the back of the Transmission. I have never taken one of the Auto ones apart but given it's the back of the 4L60E right there I could see some kind of Seal in there since that's the back of the Transmission where normally there's a Tailshaft Housing and that seals around the Driveshaft to keep Fluid in. No need for that with the T56, the coupler piece is the back of it and has a Seal in it. Probably a clearance issue too.

Thanks, Merv. What I'm really looking at is-long story as short as I can-I had my 3.15 C5 diff sold. Then the guy said he did some research and was told he couldn't bolt the 3.15 diff on the manual trans. Diffs aren't light, especially for 72 year old weightlifters!! So before he bailed the 1sy time, I put a tarp in the cars trunk, picked up the diff, and set it in. Then he canceled. So I took the diff back to the garage. Then he PMs me that he'll take it anyway, even if it isnt a direct bolt-in, just to have the parts. So I lifted her up and put it back in the trunk a second time! Another PM from him, and he canceled a 2nd time!!! Good Christ, it ain't getting any lighter!! So back to the garage it goes...Again! Now he says the 6 speed trans output shaft splines wont match the diffs input splines. He also says the final drive shafts don't match the half shafts. I'm an engine guy, and don't know if this is BS, or not. I find it hard to believe GM wouldn't make all the final drive shafts from the Getrag the same. What a PITA!! And back....And shoulders!!!

@the_merv Yeah, I got a tarp put down in the trunk, picked the diff up and carried it outta the garage, and put it in the trunk. Then he said no. So I put it back in the garage. Next day he says he'll take it whether it fits, or not. Said it'd be good to have on hand. So I repeated the whole damn process, and then he says never mind, RPM told him you cant bolt an A4 diff to manual torque tube!! So back out it comes and back to the garage. DAMN!!! This thing ain't light! I'm not a wimp, but I am almost 72 years old and have no help, so I'm doing this all alone. Next time I'ma ask for a deposit BEFORE I lift a finger!!!
