Default finnally got started on conversion. have some ?s

well i finnally started building up an LS1 for my 96 Z71. right now i have collected a complete LS1 long block, truck oil pan, truck intake, truck brackets, and almost all the sensors. i am debating on which wireing harness to use. first off, i am going to be running truck style brackets and intake but after looking at a truck wireing harness, i have decided to use a F-body harness instead. on the truck wireing, the computer harness splices into the underhood junction block and all other kinds of stuff i dont what to use. the f-body harness is alot simpler. i am aware that i am going to have to modify if a bit since the alternator is in a different spot but what else will i have to do to it.

Change the injector connectors and the MAF connector. Everything else should be pretty compatible. Between the 2 harnesses you should be able to make what you need.
Just make sure the F-body harness isn't from a 98.

thanks, i acually have a set of LS1 injectors and truck injectors. the LS1s are the smaller 26's but should be ok since this is going to be a pretty stock motor. can't i just install the LS1 injectors in the truck fuel rail?

You can use the LS1 injectors but you have to notch the truck fuel rail mounting tabs and use spacers and longer bolts since the LS1 injectors are longer than the truck injectors.

I know what you mean about the wiring mess. I saw a picture the other day from someone putting an '04 6.0L in to a 96 Yukon. They were even keeping the electronic throttle control. The harness was custom made for them and it had to include the fuse box because I guess there is no connector or anything separating it from the rest of the harness.
