would my alt fit? Hee there,
As I am always wondering about my project, as I am now.
Since I would like to swap a LS1 in my car, I sold my old 350 chevy engine, but not the almost new 160 amp alternator form mr. alternator.
Would there be any way to adapt this alt to an LS1 on the same spot the alt normally is on the Camaro LS1 setup?
If it fits, how will it be in size comparred to the stock LS1 alt, mounting and clearance wise...?
It has a normal v-groove pully for now and normal mounting places for a old 350. It has a 4 wire connector, the big power post and a internal regulator. Would it hook upto the computer and wiring harness?
I would realy like to use this alt again an dsave some money, instead of buying another high output alt for the LS1.

It won't fit any of the standard LS1 brackets. Your's has a straight across bolt pattern while the LS1 alternator bolt pattern looks like this:
If you use some type of custom adapter or bracket, your alternator could work with a 6 rib pulley and the correct electrical connector on the back.

As I look at it, I could be possible, I will keep the alternator for now and see if I can adapt it later on or sell it anyway.

Hi Peter: Check Out Street and Performance online catalog www.hotrodlane.cc. They sell a bracket that mounts the standard alternator in this position it uses the LS1 F body Belt Tensioner and PS pump so you only need the one bracket fot the alternator. as long as you are not running A/C should work ok. If you are running a 1998-2000 engine you will have to remove the EGR assembly because it sits in the same position. Check them out online.
