Question Ram Jet 350 or Ls-1

I am looking in to swap either a Ram Jet 350 or Ls-1 into 1st gen. camaro with a 6 speed manual. I think that the Ram jet is easier but it will be a daily driver and want to know how it is on gas compared to the ls-1? If anyone has any idea it would help.

I wouls think that a stock LS1 with a 6speed will get better gas mileage then a Ram Jet.

As far as I know. The ramjet runs in open loop, without an oxygen sensor, possibly using more gasoline.

Modern technology is your friend, Use the LS1.

While the LS1 probably does get better cruising mileage, I have difficulty staying off the loud pedal...the thing's just too much fun.

The engine I replaced was fairly similar to a Ram Jet. GM L98 rebuild, 10.7:1 compression, AFR 190 heads, GM HOT cam, and TPIS Mini-Ram intake. It was a blast to drive, but the LS1 really gave the car a new personality on the road course.

I have a freind with a Ramjet in a '50 Chevy Sedan Delivery and it really hauls but even with the 4L60 and 3.42 gears it only gets 14-15 mpg. An LS-1 in the same vehicle I'd bet would do better than 20mpg..........and be alot more drivable and "cruizin" friendly.
