I have a friend who is interested in changing his 2000 Firebird's 3.8 to a LS1. His questions are 1)what is the cheapest way to geta reliable LS1 2) what all will he need to install it besides engine and transmission.
Any advice appreciated.

you will need an
1. complete engine/transmission
2. wiring harness/computer
3. v8 motor mounts and possibly a v8 k-member
4. v8 gas tank/fuel pump/fuel lines, if you just want it to work, then you can get an inline fuel pump and redo the lines however you want.
I think thats it but I am not sure, it should fit otherwise because those cars were made to be able to fit the ls1 in them.
