what does this electrical part do?

I can't for the life of me figure out what this could be too. It was part of the original engine harness, mounted on the radiator support right next to the regulator. It seems like it might be a relay of some sort but to what I don't know. I'm integrating the LS1 harness into the '69's and don't know if I need this?

I have the same thing on mine and I tried to disconnect it and the car wouldn't start. Still have the old school engine in it. I believe you are right, it might be an old style relay.

ahh, the horn, never knew it had a relay, but makes sense, thanks for all the help and the schematic, that will come in handy.

Its not just a horn relay. One of the wires that comes off the horn relay goes inside the car and powers the whole fuse panel. I would suggest getting a wiring diagram for your car.
